What is Advocacy?

One person speaking out on behalf of another person or enabling a person to speak out for themselves.

Why do People Need the Help of Advocacy?

Many people experience periods when, without support, they do not feel in full control of their lives. They find they are not being listened to and do not have a voice.

Some people have disadvantages or disabilities which means they need advocacy support. Without the help of an advocate they are at risk of being ignored, marginalised or denied their rights.

OPPORTUNITIES CURRENTLY EXIST FOR:

  1. Advocates in the Scarborough, Whitby and Ryedale areas and
  2. Volunteers to assist with the strategic management of the organisation by being a Trustee on our Trustee Board
